D&C, Soembody help me understand , Should I have the D&C done?

I talk to my Dr. He said that a D%26amp;C would give him a better culture, to make sure I dont have a fibroid or fibroid is not cancerous. He would not allow me another HSG because the first x-ray was good enough or HSG may cause more damage. Is this true? Please help.

D%26amp;C stands for dilation and curettage. this means that when you undergo this procedure, the dr. simply "dilates" your cervix and "curettes" the lining of your uterus. this means scraping the lining of your uterus, and submitting the tissues gathered for a closer microscopic examination. d%26amp;c is commonly used as a diagnostic procedure, and as your dr. says, it can be used to detect cancerous cells or tissues in your uterus. it is a very safe and quick procedure.some patients go by it with mild sedation only, others prefer having a spinal block to ease the pain and discomfort.there is mild to moderate pain during the procedure, but i have had no experience on severe pain afterwards.if your dr. says that it would be helpful for both of you, i would see no reason why not
